MARY KATRANTZOU | AW/13

I always look forward to Mary Katrantzou's collections because they always have that sense of originality and innovativeness about them season-after-season although they always carry her signature there still is something new and interesting everytime. For AW/13 she outdid herself and I think went far beyond everyone's expectations. We were presented with a collection that was Yes! 'still very Mary' and one that had her signature stamp 'the digital print' that she does so well but the palette was different in the sense that it was darker than usual even for Autumn Winter; she usually goes for still bright, but rich tones but not this time. The shapes too were different, bigger and bolder and there was a clever play with fabric and texture that was so masterfully thought through than I'd seen before. Her prints too told a story, it was a magnificent display of moving art and I have to say a refreshing and much welcomed changed that showed forward-thinking and growth in the designer and I loved every single piece that came out of that collection - Absolutely breathtaking!
