LFW: HOLLY FULTON + MARK FAST A/W10-11

HOLLY FULTON

Aaa-mazing collection from Holly Fulton featuring bright, chic and optimistic geometric pieces. Her signature heavy embellishments worked really well on the dresses and the accessories were fun, jazzy and complimented the dresses really well. Holly Fulton's style is quite distinctive and though she may be the 'New kid on the block' I can definitely sense bigger and better things for the young designer many season's ahead.

I can totally see myself wearing very single piece that walked the Holly Fulton runway and thought the collection was unique and fashion forward. What a fantastic play and mix of fabrics in suedes, gorgeous furs and snakeskin. I absolutely loved the black fur clutches with crystal fastenings and overall, the collection was a very impressive, chic and wearable.

MARK FAST

Mark fast continues to move forward with his campaign to use Plus-size models and once again for A/W10 he uses a few more plus-sized models including Hayley Morely who walked for him last season. His collection presented stretchy underwear and body-con dresses in a variety of colour-popping shades and figure hugging silhouettes. The opening look was a beige silk poncho dress and cranberry suede skirt and jacket moving on to waterfall scarf trails and flippy skirts in viscose knits and tight mini dresses weave in all sorts of ways.

Nobody does body-con and knitwear like Mark does, but it is nice to see when a designer had made a attempt to think about their customer and consider what they maybe looking for next instead of just putting out a string of similar collections season-after-season.
This collection named 'Faster' was a clear indication of his efforts to re-invent his designs and deliver something a little bit different from what we have seen before. However, one thing I can really applaud him for his continuous use of plus-size models regardless of industry expectations and the controversy of it all; I think it at-least shows some integrity and proves that he is following through on his goal of making women of all shapes and sizes feel confident and beautiful and accepted.
